I recently made a Quick Tip post on emdfx (<—shameless plug that) where I stated that
“As a designer you should never allow anyone to tell you that you can’t achieve your goals. Let them stifle themselves, you keep your head up and set and strive to achieve your goals.”
Since that was a post which I had scheduled, I happened to be online when it popped into my newsfeed on Facebook and it got me thinking that this not only applies to us in the design or creative industries, but it can apply to any and everyone. So of course I sat down, typed this post in notepad and got lost in another video I was designing. I just stumbled across the post and I am now about to post it. Enough back story (which is almost a post within the post itself…bah) on to the goodies.
In all aspects of our lives, we as is natural for human beings, seek validation of our ideas and our concepts. Sadly, some of us surround ourselves with persons who are extremely limited when it comes to creative thinking and as a result they do not like to see others strive. These persons, when you mention a new idea or potential business goldmine will seek any and every reason to put down your idea and leave you doubting yourself. (more…)
I usually ignore songs that I don’t like but this is just fucking ridiculous. How are you going to talk bout yuh a thump har up? This is bullshit as far as I’m concerned, despite the fact there is a line which says something about not beating them, I still believe this song sounds too much like a song that promotes violence against women.
If this is what Dancehall has come to then I will be listening to Rock and Rap a whole lot more often…definitely a let down.
While surfing the net I came across this article talking about marriage and its effect on your health. Well on your weight at least.
Apparently people gain weight after they get married…really?! I did not notice, I guess studying 8900 people over a span of a few years made more sense than just using common sense and looking at your sister after she tied that proverbial knot…
“People who stay single, or become single again by divorce, may be somewhat more physically fit than those in wedded bliss,” or rather so says a new study.
There was a study done which followed almost 9000 people over a few years which then determined that those who were married were lessfit when hit with cardiovascular tests.
Interestingly enough though, if you got divorced as a male, then they experienced an increase in fitness levels.
These findings are not limited to males however as females experienced an increase in fitness if they stayedsingle throughout the study.
Apparently the message the researchers wanted to get across is that life changes affect our health….riiiiighhhhhtttt!! Or, maybe marriage is just bad for your health.
“I know way too many people here right now
That I didn’t know last year, who the fuck are y’all?”
Have you ever found yourself in that position? Or better yet, have to find out that the people you thought you knew were actually strangers? I received quite a few shocks recently from two close friends that left me doubting almost everybody else. I was actually left asking myself one night
“What am I doin’? What am I doin’?”
Then it hit me, don’t let this not so substantial stuff get to you, use it to get better and make them see that they aren’t gonna break you down. Watch me do me, in face I don’t even remember who you. :)….
“Oh, yeah, that’s right, I’m doin’ me
I’m doin me
I’m livin’ life right now, mayne
And this what I’ma do ’til it’s over
‘Til it’s over
But it’s far from over…..”
This is a music vid shot at my club back in March and finally its been released….beautifully edited video and the story line is pretty good too. Check it out….did I mention that I’m in it?
This is a re-post from the Writer’s Cyanide blog (which you SHOULD have read by now) which a couple friends and I have started.
I was talking to a friend today and the topic of not being able to pitch a tent came up and sparked a very heated debate. Anyways without further ado, let’s get on to the reason we’re here….
So, here I am, sitting in the living room, sports news on in the background but I don’t care because they are talking bout horse racing, cricket [who watches that?] and in a few they’ll be mentioning Arsenal’s dismal 3-0 loss to Chelsea. The fat man is making some unintelligible sounds [i don’t consider that language] and I’m wondering what to write. (more…)
Here in the Caribbean, businesses, especially those in my industry have begun to advertise jobs requiring fluency in a second language. Ranging from the sexy language of love (French) to the other English (Spanish) and even German.
Taking that into consideration one must, in order to remain competitive, be able to fluently communicate in at least two languages, three even better. With that in mind I have embarked on a quest to become fluent in conversational Spanish an French as well as to be able to write French. However the French is not progressing as well as I’d love it to, due to the fact that I only have a couple friends who speak it and both, like myself, are either in the beginner or intermediate phase. The Spanish is a little easier as I have quite a few amigas who I can converse with. (more…)
