Living positively doesn’t just affect you, it impacts on everybody you interact with. Make your life count. – el maèstro

I recently made a Quick Tip post on emdfx (<—shameless plug that) where I stated that
“As a designer you should never allow anyone to tell you that you can’t achieve your goals. Let them stifle themselves, you keep your head up and set and strive to achieve your goals.”
Since that was a post which I had scheduled, I happened to be online when it popped into my newsfeed on Facebook and it got me thinking that this not only applies to us in the design or creative industries, but it can apply to any and everyone. So of course I sat down, typed this post in notepad and got lost in another video I was designing. I just stumbled across the post and I am now about to post it. Enough back story (which is almost a post within the post itself…bah) on to the goodies.
In all aspects of our lives, we as is natural for human beings, seek validation of our ideas and our concepts. Sadly, some of us surround ourselves with persons who are extremely limited when it comes to creative thinking and as a result they do not like to see others strive. These persons, when you mention a new idea or potential business goldmine will seek any and every reason to put down your idea and leave you doubting yourself. (more…)
This is not going to be a long post, just a quick word to the wise (if you read my words you must be wise…right?).
Make peace with the past, so it doesn’t ruin your present. I am a person who always insists on not stressing myself over past events as I’ve come to realize that burdening my thoughts with the happenings of the past leaves me with less space to be awesome and enjoy my present occurrences. Do you really want your time to be wasted on the persons/happenings of the past? Or do you instead want to move on, enjoy the present and make a better future?
I don’t know about you but the answer for me is clear. In the words of almost every small time Italian gangster on tv, “Forget about it”. The bad at least, don’t forget the lessons learnt, don’t forget the the persons who have let you down, forgive them though. Forgive your past. Make peace with your past. Don’t beat yourself up about what could have been. Focus instead on what will be, what you can be. Aim to be a better person from the lessons you’ve learnt, the hurt you’ve felt, the ‘friends’ you’ve lost.
For you to forgive the past is not going to be an easy issue. But it is something which can and should be done. in order to move on, this is something which you must do. Do it. TODAY. The year is almost ending so what better time to get a fresh start than now?
These days we are constantly bombarded with messages that require our response. If we follow this constant influx of messages, we end up living our lives driven by the needs of others.
Over the last few months I have made a conscious decision to prioritize my priorities in a better manner. My life shouldn’t be dictated by someone else and their need to feel important.
Regardless of the negativity and the filth being spewed by these mindless individuals I can keep my head up knowing that my dignity is intact.
The compulsion to respond, to stoop to that proverbial lower level isn’t there anymore. My life is about focusing on myself, my goals, my objectives, my business etc.
When one is bored, that’s when you get yourself into trouble, this is why I do my best to keep myself busy. At 25 I refuse to deal with the problems I had at 17. If I had the same problems that would mean that I haven’t matured a bit.
As usual I drifted off topic a bit, but that’s what writing does to me. The point I’m attempting to make should be clear though; If the messages you receive will not benefit you in any way, then YOU DON’T NEED TO RESPOND!
So recently I made a decision that hey, my self improvement ideas shouldn’t just stop at myself. It should also reflect in the company that I keep and so I made the conscious decision to weed out the bad seed from amongst my already small group of close “friends”.
Today I came across this post and it made my day. I just had to share it and hope that it will do the same to you too.
Work hard to be a good friend to others, and you will usually be rewarded in kind. If that doesn’t work, find a new group of people, because you shouldn’t be wasting your effort on deadwood.
So, that said, I believe I have weeded out the deadwood and I have moved on to bigger things, better things. My professional goals align better with my personal goals and I must say “It feels good!”
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, wait never mind because even the most reclusive individual knows that the Zodiac is supposed to change today…So, I lived the last 24 years as a Sagitaurian which was awesome to me. However this afternoon I find out I’m no longer a Sagitaurian but I am now under the Ophiuchus sign Nov 29-Dec 17…my initial reaction was wth? First we lose Pluto and now I am under a sign that sounds like we’re complaining? (admit it it does sound like O-fuck-us!)
Upon further studies however it shows that I have really lost nothing by way of traits under the Zodiac as those under the rule of the Serpentius (yes thats right) sign are said to be:
“healers of men and a doctor of medicine or science. They seek higher education and enlightenment. They are expected to achieve a high position in life. They are envied by peers and favored by authority figures.” Sounds eerily like me….
Now that you know this you new Ophiucus persons out there can move beyond your identity crises.
Under the revised zodiac, the following dates would apply:
Capricorn: Jan. 20 – Feb. 16
Aquarius: Feb. 16 – March 11
Pisces: March 11- April 18
Aries: April 18- May 13
Taurus: May 13- June 21
Gemini: June 21- July 20
Cancer: July 20- Aug. 10
Leo: Aug. 10- Sept. 16
Virgo: Sept. 16- Oct. 30
Libra: Oct. 30- Nov. 23
Scorpio: Nov. 23- Nov. 29
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29- Dec. 17
Sagittarius: Dec. 17- Jan. 20
Ever notice how an individual will do their best to change negative aspects of their personality and drop things which are really unnecessary and still end up in trouble for things done in the past?
Well, sometimes I am left to wonder why is it that we should bother to change if persons are still going to get worked up over the things which you have done and left behind and most times even forgotten?
If that is going to be the case then we might as well continue down the path of past years if we are still going to be seen and judged in that light!
