It’s been a while since I last made a post on this my personal blog and I have my business to blame for that! EMDFX has surely kept me busy and the only writing I do these days are graphic oriented as seen by the fact that ‘The Design Lounge‘ stays updated. But I shall be neglecting my personal blog no more. While I won’t be posting as often as I used to, I will be trying to get even 2 posts in per month.
The reason I decided to come back here is the fact that there is sooooo much that I really want to share that I’ve learned from launching a business in Jamaica, all the running around which that requires and the headaches. However it’s not all bad as I have more respect for those who have successfully done it before me.
Another thing which I should have probably mentioned first is the fact that I was recently introduced to Brian Tracy by my li’l sister and he has completely changed the way I think and handle my business. This guy is not just a motivational author, he is a phenomenal motivational author. If you’ve never checked him out you definitely should do so today.
So bear with me, I will be motivating the hell out of you guys soon!
I recently made a Quick Tip post on emdfx (<—shameless plug that) where I stated that
“As a designer you should never allow anyone to tell you that you can’t achieve your goals. Let them stifle themselves, you keep your head up and set and strive to achieve your goals.”
Since that was a post which I had scheduled, I happened to be online when it popped into my newsfeed on Facebook and it got me thinking that this not only applies to us in the design or creative industries, but it can apply to any and everyone. So of course I sat down, typed this post in notepad and got lost in another video I was designing. I just stumbled across the post and I am now about to post it. Enough back story (which is almost a post within the post itself…bah) on to the goodies.
In all aspects of our lives, we as is natural for human beings, seek validation of our ideas and our concepts. Sadly, some of us surround ourselves with persons who are extremely limited when it comes to creative thinking and as a result they do not like to see others strive. These persons, when you mention a new idea or potential business goldmine will seek any and every reason to put down your idea and leave you doubting yourself. (more…)
Does it affect my Health/wealth?
Well. I haven’t blogged in quite a while. However, I’m quite peeved about a situation which has been unraveling lately and I had to put pen to paper. I am of the belief that being a man doesn’t only mean having a penis and balls. It doesn’t have to do with whether you’re effeminate or masculine. Having children doesn’t make you a man either. For one person to be considered a man there should be a certain level of respect given to you by real men around you and one should also be respected by women (no in this case your mother doesn’t count).
I am a person who is straight forward and will speak my mind in any situation, regardless of the outcome. I believe that if I have a disagreement with another man or woman, I should meet him or her and talk about it face to face. Leave the texting and phone calls to chicks who just want to blow up without having to face any serious consequences other than having the other person hang up on them.
Personally, I think you are not worthy of being called a man if you do not have the cojones to admit when you are wrong, to say a simple “I’m sorry” when the proof is irrefutable that you were wrong. You DO NOT dance around the situation and hope it goes away. You DO NOT lay blame at the foot of another person for your stupidity in past situations.
Your actions define you.
There are persons who I don’t like, but due to their actions I have to respect them. When a man can say in the middle of an argument that “If that’s what it sounded like I said, I’m sorry” and mean it, that man deserves respect.
Then there are persons who never accept the wrong in any situation, persons who will take Jesus off the cross even though they KNOW that they are wrong and still walk around with their heads held high after. Are you serious? Have you no conscience? Have you no sense? It’s one thing to lie and get away with it. It’s another thing entirely to lie to a friend who you KNOW knows the truth. It’s just stupid. You’re just stupid. Stupid is as stupid does and I refuse to align myself with anyone who is too stupid.
I’m sorry, I have a progressive agenda, like all men should have and wasting my time on petty situations that will benefit neither my health or my wealth does not sound progressive to me.
Like Russel Peters said “BE A MAN”.
Below is day 2 in our series of inspirational posts on the ’31 Major Causes of failure’.
Lack of a Well Defined Purpose in Life.
That one speaks for itself as well right? If you have no plans then there is no way that you can even hope that success or money will come your way. It is said that 98 out of every 100 person has no such aim…this might just be the MAJOR cause of their failure.
I usually ignore songs that I don’t like but this is just fucking ridiculous. How are you going to talk bout yuh a thump har up? This is bullshit as far as I’m concerned, despite the fact there is a line which says something about not beating them, I still believe this song sounds too much like a song that promotes violence against women.
If this is what Dancehall has come to then I will be listening to Rock and Rap a whole lot more often…definitely a let down.
While surfing the net I came across this article talking about marriage and its effect on your health. Well on your weight at least.
Apparently people gain weight after they get married…really?! I did not notice, I guess studying 8900 people over a span of a few years made more sense than just using common sense and looking at your sister after she tied that proverbial knot…
“People who stay single, or become single again by divorce, may be somewhat more physically fit than those in wedded bliss,” or rather so says a new study.
There was a study done which followed almost 9000 people over a few years which then determined that those who were married were lessfit when hit with cardiovascular tests.
Interestingly enough though, if you got divorced as a male, then they experienced an increase in fitness levels.
These findings are not limited to males however as females experienced an increase in fitness if they stayedsingle throughout the study.
Apparently the message the researchers wanted to get across is that life changes affect our health….riiiiighhhhhtttt!! Or, maybe marriage is just bad for your health.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, wait never mind because even the most reclusive individual knows that the Zodiac is supposed to change today…So, I lived the last 24 years as a Sagitaurian which was awesome to me. However this afternoon I find out I’m no longer a Sagitaurian but I am now under the Ophiuchus sign Nov 29-Dec 17…my initial reaction was wth? First we lose Pluto and now I am under a sign that sounds like we’re complaining? (admit it it does sound like O-fuck-us!)
Upon further studies however it shows that I have really lost nothing by way of traits under the Zodiac as those under the rule of the Serpentius (yes thats right) sign are said to be:
“healers of men and a doctor of medicine or science. They seek higher education and enlightenment. They are expected to achieve a high position in life. They are envied by peers and favored by authority figures.” Sounds eerily like me….
Now that you know this you new Ophiucus persons out there can move beyond your identity crises.
Under the revised zodiac, the following dates would apply:
Capricorn: Jan. 20 – Feb. 16
Aquarius: Feb. 16 – March 11
Pisces: March 11- April 18
Aries: April 18- May 13
Taurus: May 13- June 21
Gemini: June 21- July 20
Cancer: July 20- Aug. 10
Leo: Aug. 10- Sept. 16
Virgo: Sept. 16- Oct. 30
Libra: Oct. 30- Nov. 23
Scorpio: Nov. 23- Nov. 29
Ophiuchus: Nov. 29- Dec. 17
Sagittarius: Dec. 17- Jan. 20
